Learning Kit

Good morning everyone… At last we are in the end of semester and final week of lecture.. Final exam is just in the corner and we are stuffed with all kind of assignments include drama, presentation, macro teaching and also this learning kit too… Whatever also, we have managed to settle the important one by this week and same goes to this learning kit. Ayie, Ana, Veni  and I are in the same group and our topic is about Culture and Personality. Seriously once read this topic we were not that sure what we suppose to do… This is because the topic is quite wide and we do not know where to focus on. After few discussion through our group in Facebook and few meeting, at last we decided to focus on students life in school. This enable us to collect the information easier and more specific. Since all of us are very busy with other presentation so we decided each of us will do our part and then later combine all of them together. I think i do not have to explained  since all the explanation for our topic is integrated into the poster, presentation, video and also the digital message.

Together with this i will attach all our learning kits.  :

Personality and culture

Presentation week ;)

Hello… Evening everyone… Hope all of having great time this weekend… At last this week i have allocated few hours to update this blog… guess need to clear and clean my blog… and only now i realize that i am getting myself used to this wordpress even though i only learn to use it since my 1st year…  It is a great n good news indeed… Of course i need to thank Ummi PM Dr Rosseni for guiding me all the way up to this level..Thankx Ummi… from bottom of my heart … 🙂

In our previous class, we have started our presentation for the question assign for each of our group… And this week are Adira , Nadia and also Yasmin turn to present.   First presenter is Adira and she presents about  “learner diversity and differentiated teaching”. This topic is very interesting  and it is also easier to understand the presentation.  Adira concerntrates on the SAALE model and  how a teacher can use it in teaching and learning process.

“SAALE  is shortform of  S- systematic, A- approach for, A- adapting the  L- learning  E-environment.  SAALE MODEL started in  1970′s and created to allowed disabled children to get the same curriculum. It is a universal design and gave extra opportunities of access to students. SAALE MODEL has three main components which consist of  adapted environment, adapted instructional environments which is planning and teaching, and adapted evaluation.

While in adapted environment there is another  three components  socio- emotional, physical and behavioral. It is used to alert to a certain situation in class. The second one is adapted instructional environment which consists of  lesson plan, techniques and so on. It is used to do some changes in the stated matters. the last one which is adapted evaluation consists of  students evaluation and grading and used in holistic evaluation.  This model is really very useful as we can plan our lesson and conduct the classroom management well too…

Next lets move on to Nadia’s presentations… Oh yes…i still remember how nervous she was when standing in front there alone before start the presentation.. She discussed about  “Autism”…She explained about the main components in Autism and also she share with us about her experiences with an autism student where she thought that particular student was naughty and only now she got to know that is because that boy an autism boy… Autism is a  a disorder of neutral development characterized by impaired social interactions and verbal and non verbal. Autism  affects information processing in the brain by altering how nerve cells and their synapses connect and organize; how this occurs is not well understood.Social interaction is difficulty relating to people, events or object. Unusual behavior happens when the children have repetitive moments,  insistence  on sameness and so on. In learning, children have cognitive problem in attention and so on.images (2)

While  Yasmin presents on down syndrome children… So lets review about down syndrome now… Lets go deeper …

Down Syndrome is

Down syndrome (DS) or Down’s syndrome, also known as trisomy 21, is a genetic disorder caused by the presence of all or part of a third copy of chromosome 21. Down syndrome is the most common chromosome abnormality in humans. It is typically associated with a delay in cognitive  abilityand physical growth,  and a particular set of facial characteristics. The average IQ of young adults with Down syndrome is around 50, whereas young adults without the condition typically have an IQ of 100. (MR has historically been defined as an IQ below 70.) A large proportion of individuals with Down syndrome have a severe degree of intellectual disability

Down syndrome is named after John Langdon Down, the British physician who described the syndrome in 1866. Down syndrome was identified as a chromosome 21 trisomy in 1959. Down syndrome can be identified in a newborn by direct observation or in a fetus by prenatal screening. Pregnancies with this diagnosis are often terminated.

Many children with Down syndrome are educated in regular school classes while others require specialized educational facilities. Some children graduate from high school,[9] and, in the US, there are increasing opportunities for participating in post secondary education.  Education and proper care has been shown to improve quality of life significantly. Many adults with Down syndrome are able to work at paid employment in the community, while others require a more sheltered work environment

Some of the points that listed by Yasmin  are change the perception,  involve the students, have talk with parents, implement simpler task and so on.

So that’s all for this week…As future parent all of us need to explore and get know well on children behavior and why do they behave so… See you all next week… Have a great wekend yar..  🙂

During our presentation many of  my classmates have doubt about 1Malaysia and what is happening. Both of us managed to answer all of their questions and at the same we also gain more knowledge while doing this assignment.  Thankx to Ummi for giving us chance and opportunity to explore and know about it.. images (4)

Group Assignment

Haaaiiiiiiii again everyone….  Guess it has been more than two weeks i update my blog…haiiizzzz i got to organize my works… Since now all of us are in the middle of the semester, guess what all the lecturers are giving us the assignments and got to present or submit them soon…. Haaaahhh … seriously very very pack…add on with my student council work in my college pressuring me… hhhuuuuhhhh… hopefully i could manage all this well… yar back to the track… this week i’m gonna reflect on what happen in our tutorial class with Puan Sri…  😦 and yar as all of you she did not turn up on that because she got to go somewhere but she assign us with task which consist of 10 questions.. But then , Ummi as our tutor has change the questions as a group task so that we can present and it would be more interesting.

Before we go further, what is 1Malaysia ???>>>>>

1Malaysia also popularly known as Satu Malaysia in Malay is an on-going programme designed by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak on 16 September 2010, calling for the cabinet, government agencies, and civil servants to more strongly emphasise ethnic harmony, national unity, and efficient governance. 1Malaysia stresses national unity and ethnic tolerance. The 2010 values of 1Malaysia as articulated are perseverance, a culture of excellence, acceptance, loyalty, education, humility, integrity, and meritocracy… There are slogan together with it for each years.

2009 Rakyat Didahulukan, Pencapaian Diutamakan (People First, Performance Now)
2010 Menjana Transformasi (Generating Transformation)
2011 Transformasi Berjaya, Rakyat Sejahtera (Transformation Successful, People Prosperous)
2012 Janji Ditepati (Promises Fulfilled)

So many programmes have been conducted to implement 1malaysia and make it successful such as 1Malaysia Clinics, 1Malaysia People’s Groceries Stores, 1Malaysia emails, 1Malaysia Youth Fund and so on..  wait why and what for i am telling all of about this ar???? yes that is because my topic is about 1Malaysia too… a short briefing and to fresh up you people’s mind too..hahhahaha.. okay lets move on….

For this group work i’m together with Ahmad Khusyairie a.k.a Ayie.. The question that we have to prepare our slide to present is :

(8) (a) Explain five strategies to achieve the goals of 1Malaysia.
        (b) Describe five obstacles which may prevent the achievement of these goals.

Since we got 2 question we decided to divide among ourselves where each of us need to prepare the slide and got to present in front of my classmate during tutorial… And yeah.. it assignment really opened up my eyes where i can see what is happen around us and what we as the human being or as residents of Malaysia are doing to protect the unity of us..  As all of us know our current prime minister the one initiated and proposed 1Malaysia concept… In order to make this concepts he is been working hard with so many programmes  and so on..  In our presentation we have explained and also answered few question asked by my fellow classmates… Yeah some of you might think when i’m presenting why don’t i fight for my right while others are doing so.. this is because i know and believe in this “whatever  is will be only yours in whatever way”. sometime we got to wait and see what God has planned for us in future.  hahahahaha.. back to the assignments… Remember we might be different colour  skin by our hair are the same and it shows that we are 1.. So respect others to get yourself respected by others.

Miracle Worker

Helllooo .. Hollllaaaa …..

Good day everyone ..Hope all of doing good today.. May God shower his mercy on you all….

This week reflection going to be about the movie Miracle Workers which all of us watched in the tutorial class because Ummi was not able to attend the tutorial because Ummi need to attend some workshop @ Uniten….  Because of that Imran suggested for us to watch this movie….

The Miracle worker is an American biographical film by Arthur Penn in 1992. This movie is based on a true story of Helen Keller who is a American author, political activist, and lecturer. Helen became deaf and blind due to an illness at the age of 19 months which is acute congestion of stomach and brain. But the age of 10 months, She can speak and listen as a normal person. At that time, she was able to communicate with Martha Washington, the 6 year old daughter of the cook who understood her sign Helen had a desperate feelings to talk and listen and she was also depressed when peoples surrounding her can do so and she can’t communicate with them. She had a hard life…Her parents pampered her too much and provides her a candy every time she did something. They just let her behave in her own wish because of love and care. The only way Helen’s father thought of is sending to an asylum. They never taught her any good behavior….Then, a teacher named Annie Sullivan was appointed to teach the child.When she came to the house, she started the teaching process using a word named d-o-l-l  for the doll she had brought for Helen as present. Helen was frustrated at first when she did not understand that every objects have it’s own name. Miss Annie suffers a lot because of Helen. She must be really calm and patient. If i were her, surely i can’t cope with the child. Miss Annie suffers hardship when she tries to make Helen to talk. She teach Helen to behave and so on….

She was a great teacher in my point of view. Although Helen had done many things to her, she still copes with it and tried her best to make Helen talk. She brought Helen to a place where Helen can learn. Her dad was disagree with her but Miss Annie still negotiate with him and she only gets two weeks of time…

For me, the time is not enough because of Helen’s condition. She needs more time to learn to imitate and speak. She was too pampered until her behavior changed when she go back home. If her parents taught her everything at first, she won’t suffer like this.But everybody is busy with their work. Moreover, Helen has a half brother who always condemn her. But at last he will repent. Miss Annie was so dedicated to her job. She was strong with her decision to make Helen speak. At last, Helen spoke a word which is w-a-t-e-r and everybody was happy. Then, from the day onward, Miss Annie stayed with Helen for the rest of  her lifetime. It  was the beginning of 49 years old relationship, Sullivan evolving into governess and eventual companion. images (1)

From this movie we can identify few moral values such as :

1.  Treat children with care and protection

Children need to protected and at the same time we got to make sure that we do not pamper them too much.  We should not give them too much of faces for all their doing.  The kids should always obey parents or elder people advice.  If the kids did any wrong or mistakes we should punish them but remember within the limit.

2. Educate your students to  excel in life

In this movie we can see that how much Miss Annie suffered and punished Helen to make her to follow her instructions.  Even though Miss Annie face so many obstacles but at the end she manage to make Helen to speak, eat using the spoon and here it shows how much Miss Annie is dedicated to her profession.

love her courage and dedication

Multiple Intelligences

Good morning peeps…  I’m back to my blog again….

This week i was not feeling well so that i did not able to attend this class… I missed the tutorial class… I guess after so long this class been conducted.. From my classmates i get the information what Ummi conducted in the class… My friends, Ekin , Imran Michelle let me know what was the lesson…

I got to know that Ummi Rosseni has given them multiple intelligences test for all them to test the students mental ability… Since i did not attend the class, i took online multiple intelligences test and here is the results…

Interpersonal Intelligence

Interpersonal intelligence is focused on the understanding of others. People who are high in this type of intelligence enjoy interacting with other people and have an easy time understanding what others are feeling and thinking.

Common characteristics of interpersonal intelligence:

  • Excellent verbal communication skillsmultiple-intelligences
  • Good at perceiving other people’s moods
  • Understands people’s motivations and intentions
  • Able to create positive relationships
  • Strong leadership skills

Theory of Multiple Intelligences  :

The term “Multiple Intelligences” was proposed by Harvard psychologist Howard Gardner in an attempt to broaden the spectrum of human abilities that are included in the concept of intelligence. Gardner suggests that intelligence is not a single thing but a combination of seven different abilities:

1) Linguistic intelligence;
2) Logical-mathematical intelligence;
3) Spatial intelligence;
4) Musical intelligence;
5) Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence;
6) Interpersonal intelligence;
7) Intrapersonal intelligence.

He came to the above findings while working with patients that had different parts of their brain damaged as a result of illnesses and accidents. The examinations he conducted convinced him that the brain has different areas that function independently of each other. Thus, he formulated the 7 different intelligences.

The theory has caught the attention of a lot of people (especially some working in the education field) as a hope for better educational methods and redefining the way intelligence is measured and conceived.

An now i know what are my intelligence and sure it would be very useful for me in present and future…  🙂

Happy child with painted handsimages

Hi everyone… hws life???  After the movie “Taare Zameen Par” now we got a chance and need to watch and review the movie “Temple Grandin” . We should thank Ummi Dr Rosseni asked us to watch this movie… so obviously we know it gonna be a great movie… And yes it was….

Temple Grandin film been directed by Mick Jackson and released in 2010, stars by Claire Danes as Temple Grandin who acted as an autistic women.  This film was based on on the real life of animal science and professor Colorado State University, also autism activist and and consultant to the livestock industry on animal behavior.

And now lets move to the story of Temple Grandin..Here i have quoted the story  from wikipedia… I guess its better for me to quote rather than me confused and rewrite the story…   🙂

The film starts off with Temple visiting her aunt for the summer and working on her ranch. She becomes interested in a cattle crush, a device that hugs the cows to “gentle them”. One day, while having a panic attack, Temple places herself in the device and it helps to calm her down.

When Temple first attended college, she was very nervous when she moved into her college dorm. Temple had another panic attack in her room, but her mother gave her space by closing the door. Immediately after, her mother had a flashback to when Temple was little and had relentless tantrums. Before that, Temple was diagnosed with classic autism, a severe case of autism in which she seemed aloof, lacked eye contact, had no language, and avoided human affection and touch.

At this time, science classified autism as a form of schizophrenia, blaming mothers as the cause for the disorder and claiming that they were cold and aloof toward their autistic child, naming them “refrigerator mothers“. The diagnostician suggested placing Temple in an institution. Temple’s mother refused to listen to the diagnostician and helped Temple adapt to the everyday world. Her mother hired a speech therapist, who worked one-on-one with Temple and enabled her to acquire language.

During Temple’s college years, she conceptualized the squeeze machine, which was designed for herself because she had a sensory integration dysfunction and disliked physical affection by people. The machine hugs both sides of her to calm her down, as she controls the pressure, and it makes her relaxed whenever she becomes tense.

Even though the machine worked, the school forced Temple to remove it, claiming that it was some kind of sexual device. Later after spring break ended, Temple and her aunt came back to school to persuade the school to let her use the device. Temple later proved through rigorous scientific study that the machine was only a calming device and, as a result, she was allowed to keep it. She uses this machine for self-medicating reasons ever since.

Later on, the movie flashes back to when Temple was just being admitted to Hampshire Country School. She was expelled from her previous high school because a child taunted her and she hit him with a book. There, she meets a supportive teacher, Dr. Carlock, who encourages her to go further into science as a career and to eventually attend college.

Temple does indeed graduate from college and becomes a worker at a ranch. She rebuilds a new dip, and alters a slaughterhouse for cows so that it is much more humane. The film concludes with an autism fair convention, which Temple and her mother attend.

temple grandin

Temple speaks out from the crowd and tells the audience how she overcame her difficulties and was able to achieve academically, as well as how her mother helped her deal with the everyday world. The people become so fascinated that they request Temple to speak in front of the auditorium. So that’s the end of the story and yeah it was great right.. I would suggest all of you to watch it to and enjoy it yar … 🙂

Moral Values  :

1. Special Attentions to  Special Need Students

     We should always give special attention to all students with special needs such as dyslexia, autism and so on..  They are special in      their own way. They might not be as the other kids but they have the talent in them too..  Teachers and parents need to understand them and also their situation  and treat them up to their level.  This students are quite sensitive and very emotional. It is quite difficult to handle this kind of students but if we do use the correct way then for sure we can manage them.

2. Protect and educate them

Parents should always concern about their children physical and mental. The problem that the kids faced usually been know or identified when they have grow about 4-5 years old. Even so,  it is not too late we still can help them to go on with their life.  Parents should always give attention and spend more time with your kids so that you could know what your kids are about.

So that’s the end of this reflection.. will be back with new reflection soon… im not gonna publish it now… Saved as draft… 🙂 Bubye n take care yar…
